Mike Kopelman of Brandeis Named ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year

Brandeis University assistant men's tennis coach Mike Kopelman has been named the tasc Performance Northeast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Kopelman helped head coach Ben Lamanna and the Brandeis men finish the regular season with a 14-5 record, the highest win total by a Judges' men's tennis team since 1989. Brandeis finished the regular season ranked 14th in Division III by the ITA, also a program best since 1989. Kopelman also helped develop the Judges' top doubles team of sophomore David Aizenberg of Highland Park, Illinois, and rookie Anupreeth Coramutla of Monroe Township, New Jersey, who finished the season ranked fourth in the Northeast and were selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship next week.

"Mike is a workhorse for our program," Lamanna said. "For everything he does for our two nationally-ranked teams, from recruiting to match-planning to mentoring our players, I truly consider him a co-coach."

Kopelman is in his third season with the Judges. He also helped guide the Brandeis women to program-bests with 15 wins and a #18 national ranking in 2016-17. He is a 2013 graduate of Boston University.
