Washington University in St. Louis sophomore Bernardo Neves was named the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Region Men's Tennis Player to Watch, as announced by the Association Thursday.
"I am very impressed with Bernardo's commitment to improving his shot tolerance and repeatable patterns this spring season," said WashU head coach Roger Follmer. "He continues to be an ACE in the classroom as well with straight A's."
Neves has a 50-14 overall record, including a 28-4 mark in singles. He is ranked No. 6 in the Central Region in singles and has been selected to represent WashU in the NCAA Singles Championship. Neves has a 21-1 record in dual matches in singles, including a 3-0 mark against nationally-ranked opponents.
He was a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection at No. 2 singles and a member of the UAA All-Tournament Team. Neves is seven wins shy of 100 for his career.
