NYU Completes Play at Stevens Invitational

The New York University men's tennis team completed play at the Stevens Singles Invitational on Sunday, September 24, in Hoboken, NJ.

In their last day of play before the ITA Northeast Regionals, the Violets went 4-10 against opponents from host Stevens Institute of Technology and the College of New Jersey. Overall, NYU finished the weekend with a 14-15 record.

"We had a good weekend with lots of quality matches," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy.

Umberto Setter went 2-0 on Sunday for the Violets. The senior defeated Stevens' Will Persson (6-3, 3-0, retired) and TCNJ's Thomas Wright (6-4, 6-0), finishing the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

- Sophomore Zeb Zheng defeated Stevens' Mark Kanevsky 7-5, 6-1 to earn his first win on the weekend.

- Freshman Stefan Rodic defeated TCNJ's Matt Puig 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.

"I wanted to make sure our guys were peaking, but not getting hurt before ITA's," added Choy. "This weekend was good preparation for next week."
