From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago men's tennis duo of Jeremy Yuan and Tyler Raclin kicked off the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup with a straight-sets victory on Thursday.

The Maroons were represented by Yuan in singles as well as the doubles combo and Yuan and Raclin. UChicago previously swept the singles and doubles titles at the ITA Central Region Championships to qualify for the Oracle Cup, which pits the eight regional champions in NCAA Division III against each other.

The freshman Yuan and sophomore Raclin were the fourth seeds in doubles and took on the fifth seeds from University of Mary Washington. UChicago barreled through its opener 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. Their next opponents will be the No. 8 seeds from Whitman College.

In the singles bracket, Yuan lost 6-3, 6-4 to No. 1-seed Mohanad Alhouni (Gustavus Adolphus College). The Maroon rookie's next opponent on the consolation side will be JT Wynne (Skidmore College).
