Ben Lamanna Resigns as Brandeis Tennis Head Coach

From Brandeis University Athletics

Brandeis University men's and women's tennis coach Ben Lamanna has resigned after 14 years to take the women's tennis head coaching position at Bowdoin College.

"I want to thank the Brandeis community for 14 years of incredible memories," Lamanna said. " I've cherished all the life-long relationships that have been cultivated, especially with the athletics staff and my student-athletes.  It was a true collaboration which brought our teams to a new standard and a bright future for Brandeis Tennis.  The lessons learned during our journey will be with me forever."

Lamanna led the Brandeis men's and women's teams to top-30 national rankings in each of the previous six seasons, including nine in a row for the Brandeis women. Both teams entered the top 10 in the national rankings in 2019, with the Brandeis women making their first-ever NCAA tournament berth, reaching the regional finals. Lamanna was named both men's and women's University Athletic Association coach of the year in 2019, adding the Division III National Men's Coach of the Year honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

"Ben has been a pleasure to work with over the past year," said Brandeis interim athletic director Jeff Ward. "The care and pride he demonstrated in working with his student-athletes were evident. He leaves Brandeis tennis moving in the right direction. We wish him well in his future endeavors."

Brandeis will begin a national search for a new head men's and women's tennis coach immediately.
