Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field junior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) competed in the prelims of the 800-meter run at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 23. 

Vandenberg crossed the finish line only .01 seconds behind the closest competitor with a time of 1:50.93, just missing the chance to compete in the finals for All-America honors.  Vanderberg finished in ninth place overall.
