Emory University senior Mike Moserowitz finished first
in the long jump, pacing the Eagles during the first day of
competition at the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA)
Championships in Chicago, Illinois, hosted by the University of
Chicago.
The Emory men sit in sixth place with 27 points, as Carnegie Mellon
(69 points), Washington (62 points) and Chicago (47.50 points) top
the standings.
Moserowitz won the long jump with a leap of 6.75 meters, marking
his first-career outdoor title in the event, and his second outdoor
championship overall. Sophomore Maxwell
Hoberman added a scoring performance in the event, placing
fourth with a leap of 6.64 meters.
Other Emory men to finish in the top-eight in the finals of their
events on Saturday and contribute to the team's point total
included freshman Christian Johnson in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase (fourth, 9:36.54), sophomore Jacob Seigel in
the shot put (eighth, 12.69 meters), sophomore Taylor
Jarl in the hammer throw (eighth, 39.72 meters) and the
4x800-meter relay team of senior Eric Weiner,
senior William Matheson, juniorKevin Delaney and
freshman Walker Marsh (fourth, 8:01.13).
Junior Gui Silva qualified for the finals in a pair of events, winning the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.70 seconds and finishing third in the 200-meter dash preliminaries with a mark of 22.06 seconds. Junior Zachary Rosenberg will join Silva in the finals of the 400-meter dash after claiming sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 51.60 seconds, while freshman Dennis Kamara earned entry to the finals of the 100-meter dash after finishing fourth in the preliminaries with a mark of 10.99 seconds. A pair of Eagles qualified for the finals of the 400-meter hurdles, with sophomore Adam Rabushka winning the preliminaries with a time of 55.23 seconds, and junior Ankush Mohile claiming seventh with a mark of 58.35 seconds. Junior Patrick Crews rounded out Emory's list of qualifiers, placing sixth in the 800-meter run preliminaries with a time of 1:56.10.
