Mark Kulinski Leads Spartans at W&L Carnival With First-Place Finish in Pole Vault

Senior Mark Kulinski (Oil City, PA/Venango Catholic) continued his strong 2014-15 season as the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team opened its outdoor season at the two-day Washington & Lee Carnival. 

Kulinksi won the pole vault with a mark of 4.71 meters (15'5.5"), finishing .15 meters ahead of the runner-up. Junior Jared Brucker placed fourth in the event (3.96 meters).

Junior Benjamin Davis (Aurora, OH/Aurora) finished second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:07.29, second only to a meet record performance by George Degen of Carnegie Mellon.

Sam Reusser (Orrville, OH/Orrville) placed third in the shot put with a toss of 14.08 meters (46'2.5").

The Spartans' 4x400-meter relay team of junior Jonathan Freeman (Houston, TX/Awty International School), sophomore Nico Ericksen-Deriso (Boulder, CO/Boulder), sophomore Nathaniel Wahner (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby), and junior Devon Belew (Kansas City, MO/Park Hill) placed third in the nine-team field in a time of 3:23.24. 

There was no team scoring at the event.
