The New York University men's track & field team is being represented by two runners at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The competition is hosted by St. Lawrence University and is being held in Canton, NY, from Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23.

Senior Johnny Lake was the first of the two Violets to compete at Nationals. The senior participated in the preliminaries of the 3,000m steaplechase. He placed ninth in his heat and 18th overall with a time of 9:34.12. The top 14 finishers advanced to Saturday's final, while Lake's time at Nationals and career as a Violet has come to an end.

"The goal was to make the final, but it didn't happen," said Head Coach Will Boylan-Pett. "Johnny started out a little too slow, he had a difficult time putting his rhythm down. I think he was capable of qualifying, today just wasn't the day. But it would be wrong to judge his season by this race. He had a strong year, set a big personal best. He had a lot on his plate this week, too. Johnny is a senior, so he just had his graduation ceremony on Tuesday."

Budd Brown is the other NYU student-athlete participating at NCAA's. The sophomore is scheduled to compete in the 400m dash preliminaries at 6:00 pm on Friday evening.

"Budd had his last training session today. He is feeling good and is ready to go," noted Boylan-Pett. "The goal for him for tomorrow is to run his race, run aggressively and, of course, to make the final."
