Zac Kish, Nick Karam Win in Bethlehem For NYU

The New York University men's track & field team competed at the the Greyhound Invitational, hosted by Moravian College on Saturday, April 18, in Bethlehem, PA.
 
Senior Zac Kish and sophomore Curtis Mann were first and second in the 800m in 1:55.39 and 1:56.10, respectively. Kish set a season best, while Mann improved on his personal best by almost two seconds. Junior Max Avila was 19th in 1:59.58.
 
Sophomore Nick Karam was the fastest in the 1,500m in 3:59.87, just 0.32 shy of his personal best. Rookie Max Mudd came in third in 4:00.87 (personal best). Sophomore Nolan Hayes took eighth (4:03.85, personal best), while senior Steve Crnic was 17th in 4:08.52.
 
Highlights:
 
- Sophomore Budd Brown was runner-up in the 400m with a personal-best 48.60. Freshman Malcolm Montilus finished 19th in 51.26, while sophomore Fred Lam took 38th in 53.10.
 
- Junior Matthew Powers and sophomore Budd Brown finished third and fourth in the 200m, respectively. Powers notched a season-best 21.90, while Brown ran a personal best of 21.97. Senior Devon Batiz was 22nd with a personal-best 23.04. Batiz also placed 15th in the 100m with a season-best 11.35.

- The 4x100m squad of sophomore Caleb Su, Brown, Powers, and Montilus came in second with a season-best 42.33. In the 4x400m relay, the foursome of sophomore Chevaun Samuels, Lam, freshman Vince Booth, and Avila took fifth in 3:27.77.

- Sophomore Nick Torsitano set a personal best of 56.91 in the 400m hurdles, good for fifth place.

- Sophomore thrower Carter Beardsley competed in three events. His strongest event of the day was the shot put, where he placed seventh with 14.09m. He was 17th with 39.43m in the hammer throw, while taking 26th with a 31.86m attempt in his collegiate discus debut.

- Junior Boris Nimcevic placed 18th in the javelin throw with a season-best 47.90m.
