Will Boylan-Pett Steps Down as NYU Track & Field/Cross Country Head Coach

New York University's Head Coach of men's and women's track & field and cross country, Will Boylan-Pett, has resigned.

The current staff of asistant coaches Erison Hurtault, Mike Smith and Mary Moore remain intact, with Hurtault in a lead role.

"Though this is a difficult time to lose our Head Coach, we have excellent coaches in place who will continue to lead the teams as the season moves on," said Christopher Bledsoe, NYU's Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics. "We thank Will for his service and wish him well in his future endevors."

An additional coach has been added to the staff, as John Trautmann, a former U.S. Olympian, will serve as Assistant Coach and oversee the Violets' mid-distance and distance runners.

A 1991 graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, Trautmann competed for the Hoyas' cross country and track & field teams and was a member of their then-world-record-breaking 1987 distance medley relay team (9:20.96) as its 1,200-meter leadoff leg. Inducted into Georgetown's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012, Trautmann set the world record in the mile (4:12.33) for the 45-49 age group at the Boston University Valentine Invitational in 2015. 

"I'm extremely excited to join the NYU staff and continue Will's good work," Trautmann said. "I look forward to working with this terrific group of student-athletes."

A native of Central Valley, NY, Trautmann resides in Manhattan.
