Owen Norley of Carnegie Mellon Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Carnegie Mellon University junior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's cross country and track and field for the 2015-16 season. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 which is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania.  

Norley, a materials science engineering major, has a 3.39 GPA.  He was crowned back-to-back individual University Athletic Association (UAA) champion in the mile run during the indoor season the past two years. Norley became an All-American after placing sixth in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past March. For his career, he is a six-time UAA champion for the indoor and outdoor track seasons with four coming on relay teams. The junior is also part of the school record 4x800-meter relay team. Norley also lead the Tartans' cross country team to an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Championships as well as a UAA team title in the fall of 2015.
    
Norley has previously interned at Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas, was a resident assistant at Carnegie Mellon his sophomore year and is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
