NYU Faces Harsh Conditions at Osprey Invitational

From NYU Athletics

A contingent of the New York University men's track & field team took part in the Osprey Invitational on Saturday, April 9, hosted by Stockton University in Galloway, NJ.

As a result of inclement weather, the invitational was canceled after the 400m dash.

In NYU's first steeplechase of the year, junior Nathaniel Picard-Busky captured third with a time 10:10.37. Sophomore Sam Praveen followed right behind his teammate in fourth place with a time of 10:24.80.

Freshman Yohan Su registered a distance of 5.70m to take sixth as NYU's lone representative in the long jump.

Fellow classmate Abhishek Panigrahi finished eighth in the discus with a toss of 30.50m. He would return to secure 15th in the shot put with a throw 10.22m.

The final freshman was Harley Centner, who placed 18th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.82.

"Today was a good test for the upcoming weeks," said Assistant Coach Mike Smith. "We aren't too fond of the results, but we saw our guys competing hard. We were pleasantly surprised by our steeple runners. Nonetheless, we expect better results in the weeks to come."
