Daniel Pietsch of Emory Named Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year

Rising junior Daniel Pietsch of the Emory University track and field program was named the Outdoor Men’s Track Scholar Athlete of the Year as announced by the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) late last week. Pietsch is the first Emory athlete to earn an Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year Award.

Pietsch, an Economics major with a 3.38 grade-point average, became just the second Emory male athlete to win an outdoor national championship this past season, posting a school-record time of 46.92 to win the 400m Dash. During the outdoor season, Pietsch added a UAA Championship in the event, All-UAA in three more, a USTFCCCA All-Region selection in the 200 and 400 meters and was a Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree.
