Spartans Win Amy Adams Memorial Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team competed at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational hosted by Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio this weekend.

With 12 top-three finishes at the meet, the Spartan men topped the eight teams in action with 169.5 points, finishing well ahead of second-place Ohio Dominican (114.50 points) and third-place Walsh (107 points). 

Sophomore Joseph Cabral led the Case Western Reserve men, winning the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.56. He also teamed with junior Grant Mlack, freshman Sam Jenkins and freshman Dominic Oddo in the 4x400-meter relay to finish third in the event with a time of 3:26.99.

Other first-place finishers for the Spartan men came from junior Aidan DeSanto and freshman Brian Holden. DeSanto picked up the win in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.15, and was followed in fourth place by junior Sam Merriman (4:05.36) and in fifth place by junior Zach Roshon (4:06.36). Holden earned his first-place finish in the javelin throw, registering a distance of 52.26 meters.

The CWRU's men 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Jonathan Haling, freshman Michael Hradesky, junior Andrew Ibibo and senior Nathaniel Wahnerfinished fourth in a time of 3:31.22. Wahner added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.19 seconds, and Ibibo also added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 49.73.

Adding second-place finishes for the CWRU men were freshman Xavier Yozwiak in the 5,000-meter run (15:49.37), sophomore David Prigg in the pole vault (4.10 meters) and Oddo in the long jump (6.49 meters). Other top performers for the Spartan men at the meet came from freshman Andrew Green in the 5,000-meter run (third, 15:53.52) and freshman Tom Fu in the triple jump (third, 12.67 meters).
