A contingent of New York University men's track & field athletes competed at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Invitational on Saturday, April 8, in Ewing, NJ.
A trio of runners posted top-10 finishes in the 1,500-meter race.
Junior Robert DeSisto led the NYU pack with a fifth-place finish in a career-best time of 4:07.25. Right behind him was freshman Ben Karam, who took sixth in a season-best 4:07.33. Another freshman, Benjamin Heintz, rounded out the top-10 trio with an eighth-place finish in his own season-best time of 4:08.57.
Top-20 finishes were recorded by Violets in several other events.
Junior Daniel Sovich took 14th place in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 1:00.58. Senior captain Caleb Su finished 15th in the 100 meters (11.32) and sophomore Julian Marrufo was 19th in the 3,000 meters (9:19.53).
"We had a lot of career bests in not the best conditions," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "As the weather continues to improve, we are looking for people that keep setting personal-best times as championship season approaches later in the season."
There was no team scoring at the meet.
