Maroons Place Second at Ted Haydon Invitational

The University of Chicago men's track and field team started the outdoor season on a high note by hosting the annual Ted Haydon Invitational on Saturday.

UChicago's men (180 points) took second to Benedictine University (216.8 points) out of the 14 competing teams.

The Maroon men netted four victories on the day. Freshman Ralph Patejunas won the men's 5,000 meters by 24 seconds at 15:53.56. Senior Nick Nielsen took the 3,000 meters in 8:49.09. UChicago also captured a pair of field events with freshman Alexander Scott in the discus (45.37 meters) and senior Joey Gary in the javelin (47.89 meters).
