Case Western Reserve University senior sprinter Nathaniel Wahner competed on the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Competing on the second day of his first outdoor national meet, Wahner competed in the 400-meter dash. Overall, 20 student-athletes competed in the event with the top nine qualifying for the finals on Saturday.

Wahner was seeded sixth in the 400-meter dash entering the meet with a school-record time of 47.64. He placed 17th in the 400-meter preliminaries with a time of 49.45.

Before the beginning of this month, Wahner was named the University Athletic Association Men's Most Outstanding Running Events Performer. He claimed the titles in both the 400-meter and 200-meter dash, marking just the third time in program history that a Spartan has won the conference title in the 400m, and the first time in program history that a Spartan has won the conference title in the 200m. Wahner also earned UAA Track Athlete of the Week honors three times during the outdoor season.

Wahner concludes his Spartan career as one of the most accomplished sprinters in program history as he currently holds a combined 10 indoor and outdoor school records.

The meet concludes the 2016-17 season for the Spartans.
