Tartans Record Two Season-Best Times and Career-Best Mark at Gator Invite

The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 13th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday. Senior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston) recorded a career-best mark while junior Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) won the 800-meter run.

Schofel placed second in the hammer after recording a personal-best mark of 56.99 meters while Mills won the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 1:53.37. Freshman Grant Johnson (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 58.17 in the 400-meter hurdles to place fifth.

Junior Jared Moore (Beaver Dams, N.Y. / Corning-Painted Post) and freshman Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame) finished second and fourth in the 5,000-meter run. Moore crossed in 15:08.63 and Karee in 15:21.61.

Freshman Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) record two fifth place finishes on Friday. He tossed the shot put 15.20 meters and the discus 45.57 meters.

Senior Tommy Mansfield (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) cleared 4.16 meters in the pole vault to place fifth. Senior Eloy Fernandez (San Jose, Calif./Lynbrook) leapt 13.30 meters in the triple jump to place sixth.
