From Case Western Reserve University Athletics
The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team competed at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational hosted by Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio this weekend.
With 18 top-three finishes at the meet, the Spartan men topped the 14 teams in action with 187 points, finishing well ahead of second-place Baldwin Wallace (68 points) and third-place Muskingum (66 points).
Senior Andrew Ibibo led the Case Western Reserve men, finishing tied for first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.53.
Other first-place finishers for the Spartan men came from senior James Gibson, senior Aidan DeSanto and freshman Jordan Butler. Gibson picked up the win in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:07.15, and was followed in third place by DeSanto (4:08.73). DeSanto claimed the title in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:41.10, and was followed by freshman Yoshmar Pinal-Alfaro in second place (15:47.50). Butler earned his first-place finish in the high jump, registering a mark of 1.93 meters.
The CWRU men's 4x100-meter relay team of senior Ben Zelkin, senior Adrian Cannon, senior Zak Hurd and sophomore Jonathan Haling finished second with a time of 43.53. Hurd added a second-place finish in the long jump (6.53m) and a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.35). The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Haling, senior Grant Mlack, sophomore Dominic Oddo and sophomore Michael Hradesky also added a third-place finish with a time of 3:43.64.
Adding second-place finishes for the CWRU men were Mlack in the 110-meter hurdles (15.20), senior Ian Parker in the 2,000-meter steeplechase (6:47.24), senior Ben Whitman in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:06.43), junior David Prigg in the pole vault (3.80m) and senior Ananth Suresh in the triple jump (12.57m). Other top performers for the Spartan men at the meet came from sophomore Thomas Patton in the 800-meter run (third, 2:00.02), sophomore Mitchell Webb in the 400-meter hurdles (third, 1:01.46) and sophomore Rueben Dockeryin the pole vault (third, 3.65m).
