Spartans Compete at All-Ohio Championships

With just two weeks remaining before the 2018 University Athletic Association Championships, the Case Western Reserve University track and field team appeared to be in top form on Saturday at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships in Delaware, Ohio.

Sophomore Michael Hradesky led the men on Saturday by claiming an All-Ohio honor in the 800-meter dash, placing first with a time of 1:55.87. Senior Andrew Ibibo claimed a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (49.59) and a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.20).

Senior Aidan DeSanto placed second in the 1,500-meter run (3:58.28), senior Andrew Green finished second in the 5,000-meter run (15:24.30), junior Robert Iriye placed third in the 10,000-meter run (33:45.17), sophomore Dominic Oddo finished third in the long jump (6.68m) and sophomore Jonathan Haling placed third in the 400-meter dash (49.80). In addition, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Ibibo, Haling, Hradesky and senior Grant Mlack finished second in the event with a time of 3:20.79, while the men's 4x100-meter relay of senior Ben Zelkin, senior Zak Hurd, sophomore Darius Inzar and freshman Joe Dinko placed third in the event with a time of 43.10.

Other scoring performances (top-eight finishes) for the CWRU men came from freshman Yoshmar Pinal-Alfaro in the 5,000-meter run (fourth, 15:32.77), Mlack in the 110-meter hurdles (sixth, 15.26), junior Tyler Bushman in the hammer throw (sixth, 47.68m), freshman Kai Fletcher in the triple jump (seventh, 12.66m), Hurd in the long jump (seventh, 6.41m), senior Ben Whitman in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (seventh, 9:43.96) and freshman Dmytro Blundell in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (eighth, 9:46.81).
