CWRU Ties For First at Otterbein April Fool’s Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team competed at the Otterbein April Fool's Invitational hosted by Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio on Friday.

With eight top-five finishes at the meet, the Spartan men finished tied for first among the 10 teams in action with 86 points, finishing tied with Malone (86 points) and Otterbein (86 points).

Senior Andrew Ibibo led the Case Western Reserve men, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.63. He also teamed with sophomore Jonathan Haling, sophomore Michael Hradesky and freshman Thomas Pattonin the 4x400-meter relay to finish first in the event with a time of 3:27.80.

Other first-place finishes for the Spartan men came from senior Aidan DeSanto in the 1,500-meter run. DeSanto picked up the win in the event with a new meet record time of 4:03.41, besting the previous meet record of 4:09.11 set last year. Senior James Gibson followed DeSanto in the 1,500-meter run with a second-place finish (4:05.12).

Other top performers for the Spartan men at the meet came from sophomore Dominic Oddo in the long jump (third, 6.42m), freshman Kai Fletcher in the triple jump (fourth, 12.33m), freshman Jordan Butler in the long jump (fifth, 6.11m) and Haling in the 200-meter dash (fifth, 22.87).
