From Emory University Athletics
The Emory University Men's Track and Field Team turned in a second-place finish at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday.
The Eagles accumulated 70.5 points during the meet to finish
second only to Lipscomb University, which finished with 92 points.
Benedict College rounded out the top three.
Freshman Daniel Pietsch won the 400-meter dash with a
time of 49.12 seconds, the seventh-fastest mark in school history
and tied for the ninth-fastest in Division III this season. In
addition, Pietsch joined freshman Benjamin Rogin,
senior Zachary Rosenberg and junior Adam
Rabushka to finish third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time
of 3:21.15, the fourth-fastest time in school history and the
sixth-fastest in Division III this year.
Junior Spencer Koh won the pole vault after clearing the
bar at a career-best height of 4.40 meters, the sixth-best mark
ever by an Eagle, while senior James Bassenfinished third in
the weight throw with a toss of 14.20 meters, tied for the
10th-best distance in the program's record book.
In the 3,000-meter run, freshman Shane Sullivan finished
fourth with a time of 8:41.99, the fastest by a University Athletic
Association competitor for the campaign and the sixth-fastest mark
ever by an Eagle.
