Tartans' Owen Norley Wins 800-Meter Run at Dragon Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Tiffin University Dragon Invitational on Saturday, February 13.

Junior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) won the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 1:58.07. Junior Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) placed third in the mile run, crossing in a career-best time of 4:22.88. Freshman William Mitchell (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was fifth in the mile in 4:27.33 while freshman Andrew Harter (Saratoga, Calif./Saratoga) was sixth in 4:27.35.

Junior Gordon Pace (Orlando, Fla./Trinity Prep) ran the 3,000-meter run in 8:53.66 to place fourth, as junior Steven Kool (Vienna, Va./Thomas Jefferson for Sci. & Tech.) was seventh in 9:01.39.

Sophomore Thomas Mansfield (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central) cleared a career-best 4.32 meters in the pole vault to place eighth overall. Freshman Rai Walters (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) took sixth place in the long jump with a mark of 6.52 meters while sophomore Eloy Fernandez (San Jose, Calif./Lynbrook) was sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.76 meters.

Sophomore David Trzcinski (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) earned a season-best mark in the shot put at 14.59 meters to place eighth and a career-best mark in the weight throw at 12.73 meters. Sophomore Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) had the team's best mark in the weight throw when he tossed the element a career-best 14.97 meters to place fifth.
