Rasheed Ajala Shatters CWRU Record to Begin Season

Freshman Rasheed Ajala of the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team shattered a school record in the season opening meet at The University of Mount Union.

In his first competition as a Spartan, Ajala broke the school-record in the 60m dash. Finishing sixth overall, Ajala turned in a time of 7.22 in the finals. The previous record of 7.28 was broken last indoor season by then senior Joshua Malone.

Sophomore Grant Mlack finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 51.35. Mlack also finished second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.64. Junior Nathaniel Wahner finished fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 51.69 and finished second overall in the 200m dash crossing the finish line for a time of 23.13. 

The top finisher in both the triple and long jump for CWRU, freshman Ananth Suresh hit a mark of 12.07m in the triple for fourth place overall and 6.08m in the long for 10th place in the field. Freshman Bennett Baier finished tied for fourth in the high jump lifting himself over the bar set at 1.80m.
