NYU Finishes Ninth at NYC Metropolitan Indoor Championships

The New York University men's track & field team finished in ninth place at the NYC Metropolitan Indoor Championships, which was held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, NY, on Friday, February 5.

The Violets, who totaled 17 points, were the only NCAA Division III school in the 12-team competition.

Leading the way for NYU on the day was the distance medley relay squad of Max Avila, Malcolm Montilus, Curis Mann, and Max Mudd. The foursome placed fourth overall with a time of 10:19.53 behind only Fordham University, Columbia Univeristy and Rutgers University.

Additionally, Daniel Rieger (4:23.26) and Neil Saddler (4:24.00) led a group of four Violets to compete in the mile, placing sixth and eighth, respectively.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sherman King (4.15m) and Nick Hespe (4.15m) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the pole vault.

- Brandon Shirazi finished seventh in the 5,000m (15:38.02).

"It was a good day for the entire team," said NYU Head Coach Will Boylan-Pett. "Basically everyone got a chance to compete and it was a positive day."
