A contingent of the New York University men's track & field team traveled to Boston, MA, to take part in the John Thomas Terrier Invite hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, January 29-30.

The Violets were represented by senior captain Matthew Powers in the 60m. He ran a time of 7.18 to place 48th.

"Pretty solid run for Matt to open up the day," said Assistant Coach Erison Hurtault. "It was a good run for his first 60m of the year."

Junior Budd Brown clocked in a career-best time of 48.69 in the 400m finishing 25th.

"Nationals and All-American honors are in his sights. No doubt about that," Hurtault stated. "That time is going to be a top time in the country. He could qualify for NCAA's with today's time."

Sophomore Malcolm Montilus and junior Fred Lam also competed in the 400m and took 80th (50.43) and 119th (52.07), respectively. Both posted personal-best times.

"Malcolm has a great shot in qualifying for nationals in the 400m," added Hurtault. "He has already reached a place he never reached all of last year. Fred is also in a good place so far this season. They are both progressing very well."
