Emory Finishes 7th at Crossplex Invitational

The Emory University Men's Track and Field placed seventh out of 21 schools at the fifth-annual Emory Crossplex Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. The Eagles finished as the top Division III team at the afternoon with 45 total points.

In the track events, junior Shane Sullivan topped Emory with eight points thanks to a second place finish in the section two race of the 3000m Run, crossing the finish line at 8:36.43. Freshman Martin Pimentel added four points with a fifth place showing in the event, finishing with a time of 8:54.35.

Junior Max Brown was the lone Eagle to earn a top-8 finish in two individual events, taking fourth in the mile run (4:19.22) and later was eighth in the 800m Run (1:58.27).

Senior Lukas Mees was fourth in the 5000m Run with a mark of 15:12.33 while classmate Michael Sisario was right behind him in fifth with a time of 15:17.18 to combine for nine points for Emory. In the section two race of the 5000m, freshman Stephen Fedec finished sixth at 16:29.96 to earn three points for the Eagles.

In the 60m Hurdles, junior Benjamin Rogin earned two points with a seventh place effort with a time of 8.55 (8.48 in prelims). Emory closed out the track events with a sixth place finish in the 4x400m Relay with the foursome of Rogin, freshman Aria Mohseni and seniors Ian McIsaac and Kyle Veator turning in a time of 3:28.40.

In the field events, junior Charlie Hu topped all Eagles performers, placing third in section two of the high jump with a mark of 1.80m. Veator in the long jump (6.55m) and sophomore Zachary Lembersky in the weight throw (14.30m - fifth-best individual mark in Emory history) added a pair of seventh places to round out the scorers for Emory
