A contingent of the New York University men's track & field team competed at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic in Hanover, NH, on Saturday, February 4.

Right out of the gate, senior captain Jorge Maldonado captured first place in the 5,000m with a time of 14:52.97. On his heels in second place was junior Neil Saddler, who posted a career-best time of 15:06.52.

Fellow senior captain Budd Brown also provided a highlight, securing a first-place victory in the 400m, crossing the finish line 50.39. Classmate Fred Lam followed behind in 23rd (53.75).

Brown was not finished as he would go on to be the 200m champion, recording a time of 22.37. Senior captain Caleb Su and Lam trailed behind in 22nd (23.86) and 33rd (24.15) place, respectively.

"Seniors and juniors did a really good job today," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "Jorge and Neil controlled the race. They pushed each other to really solid times. Their fitness is really good at this point in the season."

"As for Budd, you cannot expect much more from an athlete than winning two races," Hurtault continued. "He is prepared to run faster. It is a matter of keeping that competitive mindset."

Junior Vince Booth continued the Violets' success with a fourth-place finish in the 800m, clocking a career-best time of 1:56.80.

"Vince had another great race," added Hurtault. "Big personal best and an impressive run for him. He has a bright future ahead and should be proud of his race today."
