UChicago Dominates Season-Opening Phoenix Invitational

The University of Chicago men's track and field team began its indoor season on a high note with a victory as hosts of the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday.

In the six-team field, the Maroons were first with 220 points. Aurora University was second with 147 and 161.5 points.

The Maroon men accounted for seven wins. Two victories in field events were provided by senior Joey Gary in the triple jump and junior Nathan Downey in the pole vault. Senior Temisan Osowa took the 60 meters in 7.06 and junior Patrick LeFevre cleared the 60-meter hurdles in 8.52. The longer distance races were also owned by UChicago, with wins by senior Nick Nielsen (one mile), junior Peter Kreuch (3,000 meters) and junior Michael Stubna (5,000 meters).
