Maroons Take Third at UAA Championships

The University of Chicago track and field teams wrapped up the two-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships by capturing third place on the men's side on Sunday.

On the men's half, Carnegie Mellon University scored 116.33 points to earn the UAA championship. The Maroons were third with 77.33 points.

UChicago's men tallied four UAA event titles on the day. Junior Patrick LeFevre won the 55-meter hurdles for the second-straight season with a time of 7.73. Junior Nathan Downey grabbed the 200-meter title in 22.62. Freshman Alexander Scott made his UAA debut memorable with a shot put victory, heaving the best mark of 14.50 meters.

The day's closest result came in the men's 55 meters. In a photo finish, senior Temisan Osowa was first across the line in 6.521 seconds. He edged out the runner-up by a mere 0.007 seconds.

UChicago also posted a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with freshman Tyson Miller, freshman Elliott Paintsil, sophomore Ben Chaimberg and Downey.
