Emory Opens Spring Semester at UAB Vulcan Invitational

The Emory University Track and Field team opened the spring semester on Saturday afternoon, sending a group of athletes to the Birmingham Crossplex to compete in the Vulcan Invitational hosted by UAB. There was no team scoring at the meet.

The Eagles were one of the couple Division III programs in attendance at the meet as the field featured primarily Division I athletes from UAB, Tennessee, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Bethune-Cookman, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia State, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, Mercer, Mississippi State, North Carolina A&T, Savannah State, Southern, Southern Miss as well as student-athletes from the other NCAA ranks.

On the men’s side, senior Benjamin Rogin paced the Eagles in a pair of events, turning in times of 8.62 in the 60m Hurdles and 23.70 in the 200m Dash. Freshman Zion Kidd posted marks of 7.34 in the 60m Dash and 5.03m in the long jump in his first collegiate meet while classmate Liam Fost won his section in the 400m Dash with a time of 50.82, finishing 26th overall. Junior Zachary Lembersky rounded out the top Eagle performers with an 11.83m distance in the weight throw.
