CWRU Wins Spartan Holiday Classic

The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team claimed victory on Saturday evening at the Sixth-Annual CWRU Spartan Holiday Classic.

The Spartan men finished first out of five teams at the meet as they totaled 146 points. John Carroll finished second with 91 points and Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 78. The CWRU women finished first out of seven teams as they totaled 110.833 points. The Oberlin women finished second with 110.333 points, while Ursuline finished third with 100.

Junior Dominic Oddo led the men on Saturday as he claimed the title in the long jump with a mark of 6.80 meters and also added a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74. In addition, sophomore Jordan Butler finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.42 meters.

The Spartan men turned in nine other top three performances throughout the meet. CWRU earned a first place finish in the one-mile run as freshman Christopher Heermann finished with a time of 4:43.70, while freshman Raul Mikkilineni claimed second (4:43.73) and sophomore Ryan Tatton finished third (4:56.32). The men were also strong in the 800-meter run as junior Michael Hradesky finished first with a time of 1:57.07. Freshman Logan Singer (2:01.28) and freshman Bryden Moxley (2:01.88) finished right behind Hradesky in second and third place, respectively. Senior Drew Zapor rounded out the individual top three finishes as he placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.40.

In addition, the men's 4x200-meter relay team of sophomore Musa Hakim Jr., sophomore Jordan Butler, junior Darius Inzar and junior Jonathan Haling placed first in the event with a time of 1:35.05. The 4x400-meter relay team of Hradesky, Haling, Singer and senior Joseph Cabral then claimed a first-place finish with a time of 3:28.84.
