Co-captain and graduate student Dylan
Karten of the New York University men's cross country
and track and field teams earned Division III College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First Team Academic
All-District 3 honors, it was announced on Thursday, May 28. With
the distinction, Karten automatically moves on to the ballot for
consideration for CoSIDA National Academic All-America Team
honors.
The distance runner entered his final year at NYU with numerous
previous honors and achievements, but continued to add on to his
long list of accolades this past season. Over the cross country and
outdoor track and field seasons, the Millbrook, NY, native compiled
four Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate
Runner of the Week honors, two All-University Athletic Association
(UAA) honors -- First Team in cross country and Second Team during
outdoors -- one UAA Athlete of the Week award, qualified for two
NCAA individual championships, was named to the NCAA All-Atlantic
Region team, and was an NCAA Cross Country All-American.
Karten has been extremely successful in the classroom, as well, en
route to earning his Academic All-District honors. Throughout
2013-14 he earned UAA Sport All-Academic honors twice.
