From University of Chicago Athletics

Both University of Chicago cross country teams were named Division III All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday. Additionally, UChicago had five men earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

The Maroons recorded a team GPA of 3.54 for both genders. In order to gain inclusion as an All-Academic Team, schools must compile a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.10 and compete in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each. A total of 215 women's teams and 146 men's teams earned honors for the 2013 season.

Individually, UChicago was represented by five student-athletes of each gender on the list of USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees. The selection criterion requires a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.30 and the athlete must have finished among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships.

The male recipients featured senior Daniel Povitsky, sophomore Michael Frasco, senior Samuel Butler, junior Renat Zalov and junior Kevin On. A total of 308 women and 228 men were recognized individually by the USTFCCCA.
