George Degen of Carnegie Mellon Wins UAA Cross Country Title

Senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) ran his best race when it mattered most as he won the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 1 at Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri. Degen led Carnegie Mellon University to a second-place team finish behind host Washington University.

Degen finished the 8k course with a time of 25:05.85, two seconds ahead of the University of Chicago's Michael Frasco to become the Tartans first individual champion since Jim Langer in 1993.
