Tartans Take Own Invitational Title, George Degen Finishes Third

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team was led by senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) who finished third individually and helped lead the Tartans to a first-place finish at the annual Carnegie Mellon Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 11.

Degen finished with a time of 25:23.00, leading a group of four Tartans who finished in the top 10. 

Junior Brian Bollens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) was second to finish for the Tartans, taking eighth place with a time of 25:23.50.  Finishing ninth and 11th, respectively was junior Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) with a time of 25:55.20 and sophomore Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) crossing at 26:02.30.

Following Archer was senior Joshua Antonson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in 12th place in 26:05.40 and freshman Ryan Auld (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) in 13th place in 26:08.70. Finishing seventh for the Tartans was junior Grant Langevin (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) in 16th place in 26:11.70.

The team of Carnegie Mellon University Alumni finished fourth as a team.
