Spartans Conclude Season in Ninth Place at NCAA Great Lakes Regional

Junior Ben Davis (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) earned all-region honors as the Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team placed ninth of 37 teams at the 2014 NCAA Great Lakes Regional at the Golf Center at Kings Island.

No. 15 Wabash College (Ind.) ran away with the team title with 46 points. The University of Mount Union took the top two individual spots and finished runner-up with 135.

Davis placed 32nd overall with a time of 25:10.9 on the 8k course. The third-year Spartan earns all-region honors (top 35) for the first time in his career.

Junior captain Tony Spalding (South Bend, Ind./Marian) was the next Spartan to cross the finish line with a 45th-place time of 25:19.50. Freshman Sam Merriman (Middlesex, Vt./U-32) also finished in the top 50 (49th/25:26.3), while junior Timothy Travitz (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) and junior captain Chippy Kennedy (Scituate, Mass./Thayer Academy) rounded out the team scoring in 72nd (25:45.1) and 74th (25:45.8), respectively.
