Rochester Runs to 11th at NCAA Regional, Two Earn All-Region

The University of Rochester men's cross country team concluded its 2014 season with an 11th place finish at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday at its home course in Genesee Valley Park.

Rollfs was the top UR runner on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets finished 11th of 41 total teams at the event which featured a grand total 285 runners.
 
Leading the way for Rochester was senior Mark Rollfs who posted a time of 25:48.1 on the 8k course, good for 24th place in the field.  Sophomore Eric Franklin ended in 31st in 25:55.4.  Both Rollfs and Franklin earned All-Region honors by virtue of their top-35 finishes.
 
Senior Andrew Zeccola was third on UR in 46th (26:13.1).  Classmate Austin Davis was 101st in 27:05.8 with sophomore Dan Nolte finishing right behind him in 106th (27:09.8).  The displacers for the Yellowjackets were juniors Joseph DiFabio (27:15.2, 111th) and Jeremy Hassett (28:05.4, 159th).
 
RIT's Matt Giannino won the individual title running in 25:08.7.  St. Lawrence University took home the team title with a total of 63 points.  SUNY Geneseo was 2nd with 115, Cortland St. was 3rd (128) with RPI (151) and Oneonta St. (155) rounding out the top-5 team finishers.
