From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team had a successful opening to the new season at the Duquesne Duals Saturday, September 5 at Schenley Park with seven members of the team finishing in the top ten amongst Division III runners.
Junior Curtis Watro was the first Tartan to finish with a time of 27:01.8. He was second to cross the line after St. Vincent's Sawyer Palonder.
Sophomore Steven Kool was the second Tartan to finish with a time of 27:06.3, leading a group of four Carnegie Mellon runners finishing in 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th place. Behind Kool was juniorRiley Rodenburg with a time of 27:08.8, freshman William Mitchell in 27:15.5, and freshman Jacob Halasowski crossing in 27:17.0.
With Brandon Moretton of St. Vincent coming in 8th, the next Tartans to finish placed 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th.. These runners were freshman Aaditya Mhatre with a time of 27:39.2, junior Justin Rodenburg in 27:41.8, sophomore Owen Norley in 27:45.4, freshmanAndrew Harter in 27:55.4, sophomore Jordan Safer in 28:00.4, and junior William Casazza in 28:03.5.
The Tartans will look to continue their success at the Dickinson Invitational on September 26 at Dickinson College.
