Dan Nolte of Rochester Earns 1st Place At Flower City Opener

Dan Nolte kicked off his junior year with a victory at the Flower City Opener 6k cross country race for the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon at Genesee Valley Park.
 
Nolte completed the course in 19:47.9, edging out Alex Beals from SUNY Geneseo by less than one second for the individual title.  Geneseo would get the last laugh on the team scoreboard though, earning the win with 32 points to 2nd place Rochester's 35.  RIT ended 3rd with 68 points and Nazareth was 4th with 115.
 
Senior Jeremy Hassett was the second UR finisher across the finish line, placing 4th overall in 20:11.7 while junior Eric Franklin was 5th, 2.2 seconds behind Hassett.
 
Junior Matt Prohaska finished in 13th place overall in 20:50.7, scoring as the fourth UR finisher and Mintesinot Kassu's 19th place result was the fifth UR runner, crossing the stripe in 21:00.2.
 
Displacers for Rochester were freshman Forrest Hangen (21st, 21:01.5) and freshman Andrew Gutierrez (25th, 21:25.7).
 
Other finishers for Rochester included freshman Christopher Dalke in 34th, sophomore Nate Conroy in 35th, junior Chris Cook in 37th and freshman Jeremy Hartse in 41st.
