From Case Western Reserve University Invitational
Led by career-best times from five of their top-seven runners on Saturday morning, the Case Western Reserve University men finished sixth out of 32 teams at the Oberlin Invitational in Oberlin, Ohio.
The Spartans were paced again by junior Sam Merriman, who finished third out of the 275 competitors in the 8K race field with a time of 24:48.2, the best mark of his collegiate career. Following him were senior Galen Caldwell with a time of 25:21.9 to finish 24th overall, and junior Aidan DeSanto with a career-best time of 25:44.5 to finish 38th overall.
Rounding out the scoring finishers for the Spartans with career-best times on Saturday were freshman Luke Robbins, who placed 53rd with a mark of 26:00.5, and sophomore James De La Cruz, who placed 55th with a mark of 26:03.0.
The top-five finishers for the Spartans totaled a score of 171 for the sixth-place finish. Carnegie Mellon won the meet with a score of 75, followed by Mount Union (123) and Wabash (137).
Completing the CWRU top seven were freshman Karthik Ravichandran, who placed 87th with a mark of 26:33.3, and senior Bryan Kelly, who finished 92ndwith a time of 26:37.8.
