Emory Finishes 24th At NCAA Championships

The Emory men's cross country team closed out its season at the NCAA D-III Championships on Saturday. The event was held at the E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

The No. 30-ranked Eagles finished in the No. 24 position out of 32 teams with 565 points.  No. 1-ranked North Central breezed to the championship with 60 points, well ahead of No. 2 and runner-up SUNY Geneseo's 204 points.  UW-Eau Claire held down the No. 3 position (209 pts) while Washington University (216 pts.) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (251 pts.) rounded out the top five.

Senior Michael Sisario paced the Emory pack, covering the 8K course in a time of 25:15, placing 69th overall out of 278 entries.  Sisario's effort mark the fourth straight meet he ranked as the team's top runner and the sixth time in seven competitions this year that he scored.  Senior Lukas Mees was the second Eagle runner and 109th overall to appear on the board, turning in a time of 25:27.  Junior Shane Sullivan came through with a personal-best effort of 25:38 that ranked third on the squad and 137th overall.  Seniors Austin Hunt (26:18) and Michael McBane (26:34) rounded out the team's scorers.  Also competing for the Eagles were sophomore Bennett Shaw (26:39) and freshman Luis Torres (27:40).

Ian LaMere of UW-Platteville was the top individual finisher with a time of 23:40.
