The New York University men's cross country team won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship on Saturday, November 5, at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, NY.

The Violets took first out of 18 teams with a total of 35 points. The United States Merchant Marine Academy finished second with 62 points.

Brandon Shirazi led the way for NYU, taking second place out of 111 competitors. He completed the 8K course in a time of 27:10.8. Close behind were Ben Karam in fourth (27:25.8) and Jack Lillian in sixth (27:37.5).

"Getting a team win like that in cross country is so tough because you need many runners to all perform well at the same time. So, we're going to celebrate," said Head Coach Erison Hurtault. "It shows how hard the guys worked to get to this point."

All seven Violet athletes finished in the top 20, with Benjamin Heintz finishing in 11th (27:42.3), Robert Beit in 12th (27:45.2), Grant Allington in 17th (28:22.8), and Julian Marrufo in 19th (28:34.3).
