The Washington University men's cross country programs ran to a first place finish at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's John Flamer Invitational which featured multiple Division I programs on Saturday morning.
Junior David O'Gara led all Division III runners with a time of 25:36.59, only trailing Division I time of SIUE's Keith Meyer (25:02.84). Collectively the men finished the course with an average time of 26:08.30 while the runner-up time was SIUE's 26:11.78. The men finished with 19 points against Division III opposition with Saint Joseph's College (42) and Missouri Baptist University (81) closing out the field.
"Both teams ran with a lot of grit," said head coach Jeff Stiles. "Both teams have a long way to go, but we got better today and this put us in a good position moving forward."
