Rochester Opens Season at Brockport Short Course

The University of Rochester men's cross country team got in its first action of the 2017 season on Friday night, running at the Brockport Early Season Short Course Invitational.
 
The Yellowjackets accumulated 96 team points and finished fourth among four schools.  SUNY Geneseo took the top spot with 28 points, host Brockport was second with 37 while St. John Fisher wound up scoring 87 points and was third.
 
First year runner Daniel Allara was the initial Yellowjacket through the chute, finishing the 6000 meter course in 19:46.9, good for 15th place in a field of 61 runners overall.
 
Teammates Nate Conroy and Sam Trawick finished back-to-back in 33rd and 34th place.  Conroy crossed the finish in 20:26.1 while Trawick earned a time of 20:28.2.
 
Rounding out Rochester's scoring runners were first year Owen Goettler and sophomore Collin Gwilt.  Goettler finished in 39th place in 20:41.0 while Gwilt was right behind him in 40th, crossing the finish in 20:50.8.
 
UR had three other runners complete the race in Wesley Clayton (50th, 21:22.9), Michael Bastedo (51st, 21:23.4) and Nick Davis (52nd, 21:45.8).
