Tartans Place Fourth at Muddy Rowan Inter-Regional

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team placed fourth at the Rowan University Inter-Regional Invitational this Saturday in Glassboro, New Jersey. The team performed despite adverse conditions on the muddy course.

Junior Josh Kalapos (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) was first for the team placing seventh overall in 25:13. "I went out with the lead pack from the gun and just stayed out," said Kalapos, "I tried to move up where I could during the clean parts of the race. The team didn't have a good performance but we're looking forward to great improvements going into the championship part of the season."

Sophomore Andrew Singh (Marietta, Ga. / Walton) was second for the Tartans running to a 28th place finish overall in 25:38. Finishing third for the Cardinal and Gray despite a fall in the mud early in the race, senior Aadi Mhatre (Bridgewater, N.J. /  Bridgewater- Raritan) finished 36th overall in 25:46. Fellow senior William Mitchell (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) ran to a 38th place finish in 25:48.

Sophomores Naveen Pai (Palo Alto, Calif., Palo Alto) and Matthew Karee (Elmire, N.Y. / Notre Dame) were fifth and sixth for the Tartans finishing 42nd in 25:50 and 49th in 25:55. Junior Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan / American School in Japan) rounded out the Tartans' top seven placing 80th overall in 26:13.
