CWRU Places 21st at NCAA Championship

The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team capped off its 2018 season with its best national finish in 15 years, placing 21st out of 32 teams at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin on Saturday.

Making the first team appearance l at the NCAA Championships since 2012, the Spartans finished the meet with an aggregate team score of 516 to place 21st at the meet.  It was the team's highest finish since a 20th-place finish in 2003.

Sophomore Trey Razanauskas paced the Spartans for the third-straight meet, finishing 64th overall out of the field of 280 finishers and completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:21.1. Junior David Hall also placed in the top-100 at the meet, finishing 87th overall in a time of 25:30.8.

Senior Zach Roshon was the team's third finisher, placing 166th with a time of 25:57.1, and junior Andrew Green secured a 174th-place finish with a mark of 25:58.5. Rounding out the team's top-five scorers was freshman Spencer Weigand, who crossed the finish line in 210th place with a time of 26:17.1.

The Spartans' other two finishers on Saturday were junior Michael Klein, who finished in 270th place with a time of 27:29.3, and junior Tim Andrews, who finished in 274th place with a time of 28:02.9.

It was the first time competing at the NCAA Championships for each of the seven Spartan runners.

North Central won the team portion of the meet with a score of 43, while Washington University placed second with a score of 110, and Wisconsin-LaCrosse secured third with a mark of 127.  North Central's Dhruvil Patel won the individual title with a time of 24:24.5.

The meet concludes the 2018 cross country season for the Spartans.
