Washington University Claims Third at Midwest Regional

From Washington University Athletics

The No. 2-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's cross country team battled through frigid snowy conditions to place third during NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship.

The WashU men finished with 87 points and were one of just three teams to score less than 100 points. No. 1 North Central (Ill.) placed first with 30 points while No. 5 Wisconsin-La Crosse finished second with 74 points. The men's field of 35 teams included six USTFCCCA top-20 teams. Rounding out the top five finishes at the regional championship were No. 14 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (147) and No. 16 Wisconsin-Stout (164).

Senior Brad Hodkinson posted the top time at the Midwest Regional, winning by more than three seconds. Hodkinson posted a winning time of 24:31.8 and is the first Bear since Drew Padgett to claim first in the 2014 Midwest Regional Championships.

Sophomore Joe Stover was the final member of the men's cross country team to earn All-Region accolades when he took 20th with a time of 25:16.3.
