Two Bears Selected To Pella Regional All-Tournament Team

Senior outfielder Maggie Ingell and freshman outfielder Hannah Mehrle of the Washington University in St. Louis softball team were named to the 2014 NCAA Division III Pella Regional All-Tournament Team, as announced by Central College.

Ingell batted .500 (4-for-8) with a home run and three RBIs and recorded hits in two of three games as the Bears posted a 1-2 record at the Pella Regional. She was 2-for-2 with a home run, walk, RBI and run scored in the Bears' 7-2 upset win over No. 8-ranked Luther College in the first round Friday. Ingell also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the 7-6 season-ending loss to Luther Saturday in an elimination game. She became the Bears' all-time hits leader (221) with an RBI single in game two against Luther.

Mehrle batted a team-best .556 (5-for-9) with two RBIs and had hits in two of three games for Washington U. She went 3-for-3 with a walk, double, RBI and two runs scored in the 7-2 win over No. 8 Luther Friday. Mehrle went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 3-2 loss to North Central College in the second round Saturday.

Washington U. finished the 2014 season with a 31-17 overall record, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time in the last 13 years. The Bears also won their eighth UAA title after finishing in a three-way tie at the 2014 UAA Championship Tournament with a 5-3 mark.
